Spreading Roots: Chabad at Rice set for big expansion with new building

On Thursday, Aug. 29, at 7:30 p.m., Chabad at Rice University will hold its annual Sushi Social.

Nearly 100 students will huddle together, shoulder to shoulder, in the “everything room,” where the Chabad community holds classes, Shabbat dinners, game nights, study zones and more in what can only be described as very cozy surroundings.

All that is about to change as Chabad at Rice embarks on an ambitious expansion plan that will create a new 16,000-square-feet, three-story Chabad house.
