Each year, since 1979, ADL’s Audit of Anti-Semitic Incidents has reported the number of incidents of anti-Semitic assault, harassment and vandalism in the United States, based on information gathered by our Regional Offices and Center on Extremism.
Over the past few years, the Audit has revealed a disturbing uptick in incidents both large and small — from swastikas written on students’ notebooks to violent hate crimes. We can’t ignore the minor incidents, because if we do, anti-Semitism can be normalized. If we don’t stop smaller incidents in their tracks, they can encourage repetition or lead to something much worse.
