Ensuring the physical safety and security of our families, those who frequent our Chabad Houses, and the greater Jewish community is critically important. Over the last decade, the Jewish community was the target of dozens of planned or actual violent attacks. Campuses specifically can often be a place of strong anti-Semitic and anti-Israel activity.
It is for this reason that COCI has partnered with Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA), Hillel, and AEPi, on the National Campus Security Initiative.
This initiative is under the auspices of Secure Community Network (SCN), a national non-profit homeland security initiative of The Jewish Federations of North America and the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations.
SCN is currently updating their security manual that is catered to Jewish campus professionals and to Jewish college students (see the existing manual created in 2014 here). They would very much like to integrate security needs and concerns specific to Chabad on Campus centers and need input from Shluchim and Shluchos to ensure they are addressed.
Your involvement will help ensure that all campus Chabad Houses are taking the necessary precautions.
Please let Miriam Barber know if are able to join a conference call with Mr. Doron Horowitz, who serves as the Senior National Security Advisor and is overseeing this important initiative.
Once we have a number of Shluchim who are willing to commit we will set up a time and day that works for everyone.
