Nearly 120 students from area colleges came together for the much-anticipated Sushi Social, sponsored by Chabad at Rice, on Thursday, Aug. 28.
When the first Sushi Social was held in 2017, it drew around 20 students in the “everything room,” a cozy, multipurpose room in co-directors Rabbi Shmuli and Nechama Slonim’s campus-area apartment. As the numbers climbed, the room became uncomfortably tight – students were packed in like sardines in a can.
